SANFORD, Fla. – The 2023 Mid-Florida Conference schedule got underway on Wednesday for No. 6 Santa Fe College Baseball, and after a week off, the Saints' bats stayed hot in an 11-5 win over Seminole State College.

The victory pushed SF's record to 25-0 headed into the series' second game with the Raiders on Friday in Gainesville…

A GAME-CHANGING PLAY…

The Saints established a 6-0 lead, but Seminole State (15-10, 0-1 MFC) surged to draw within a single run, 6-5, headed into the seventh inning.

That is when Zeth Rodriguez helped the Saints stem the tide, as the third baseman crushed a three-run homerun to center field in the top of the seventh frame to plate Jahlani Rogers and JP Herrholz as well…

It was the third long ball for Rodriguez this season.

TEAM COMPARISON

The Saints had nine hits compared to eight for the Raiders.

SF had four hits for extra-bases, while Seminole State had two.

After drawing a whopping 26 walks combined in their previous two games, SF earned six free-passes in this one while Seminole State had just two…

Three of the game's four errors also were charged to the hosts in the loss.

Eight of the nine hitters for the Saints were on the basepaths in the contest, and the first six hitters all scored runs.
