Hogue a Hero as No. 7 SF Baseball Beats Seminole, 7-5 in Extra-Innings
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 7 Santa Fe College Baseball (36-7, 12-7 MFC) won in thrilling fashion over Seminole State College on Wednesday, with Josh Hogue providing the finishing touches with a two-run, walk-off homer in the 11th inning.
GAME-CHANGING PLAYS…
The Saints trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth, but Grant Gallagher came through with a two-out RBI single to plate Zeth Rodriguez, who had reached on an error earlier in the frame.
Each side posted zeros in the ninth and tenth innings, as reliever Chase Chappell was in the zone from the mound, concluding his day with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the eighth which included two K's.
SF two-out hitting and defensive miscues came back to haunt Seminole State once again in the 11th. With two outs, Hunter Keen reached on an error to bring up Hogue, who took the first pitch over the right field wall to bring the game home for the No. 7 Saints.
TEAM COMPARISON
Each team had three hits and three defensive errors, but the Saints provided more power hitting and the Seminole errors late in the game proved to be too costly…
The Raiders had just one extra-base hit, a double, while SF went for two doubles, a triple, and two home runs.
The SF pitching staff issued no free-passes, making the Raiders work for their offensive production.
