Saints Defeat Lake Hawks in Home Opener 13-7
Gainesville, Fl.- The Santa Fe Saints (1-0) baseball team showed strong offensive potential for the season as they win their season opener on Friday against Lake Sumter State College (0-2), 13-7. The Saints scored 6 runs in the first two innings before the Lake Hawks scored their first run (including a homerun in the first inning). The Saints were able to control the game in every phase as they cruised to their first win of the season.
How It Happened
Grant Gallagher walked on a 3-1 pitch in the bottom of the first inning.
- Wyatt Campbell hit a two-run home run over the left field wall in his first at bat of the season.
- AJ Barrios hit a double to center field.
- Cory Filley hit a laser up the center to extend the Saints lead to 3-0.
Anthony Fimiano hit a double while AJ Barrios hit a triple helping to increase the Saints lead to 6-0 in the second inning.
For thr Lake Hawks, Joelvis Fernandez Angeles hit a double in the third inning leading to their first score of the game.
BJ Graham makes an outstanding defensive play as he runs down a deep shot to left field for the Saints.
By the end of the fourth inning the Saints had full control of the match with a score of 13-3.
The Lake Hawks didn't slow down as they gained steam by scoring 4 more runs, including 2 runs in the 9th inning.

The Saints travel down to Auburday tomorrow Saturday January 27th as they'll play a double header against Florida Southwestern State College @2pm and St. Petersburg College @ 4pm.
