Saints Fall To Vikings Despite Strong Offensive Display
The Saints out-hit Vikings in a losing effort
Gainesville, FL- On Tuesday the Santa Fe Saints played at home against St. John's River State College in a single game matchup. In a high scoring game with twenty-eight hits, the Saints fell to Vikings with a score of 12-19.
How It Happened
In a strong offensive display, the Saints still fell to the Vikings. In the first inning, the Saints defense showed signs of struggle by giving up ten walks and eight runs (thirteen total). The Saints finally closed out the top of the inning with a double play from second baseman Mason McManus to first baseman Grant Sorrow.
The Saints finally put their first run on the board in the second inning after a Drake Harmon tag up on a lineout by Landon Rogers (1-8, Vikings). In the third inning, the Saints produced four runs capped off by an RBI double from Ma'Kai Johnson (9-5, Vikings).
In the top of the fifth inning, the Vikings rattled off five more runs (14-5, Vikings). Mason McManus hit an RBI double bringing in two more runs for the Saints in the bottom of the seventh inning (18-8, Vikings). The Saints would collect three more additional runs in the inning. Both teams continued to trade blows up until the end.
The Vikings recorded two errors while the Saints had three. After getting behind early (8 runs) to the Vikings, the strong offensive display by the Saints was not enough to overcome such a large deficit. The Vikings defeated the Saints at home (19-12).

The Saints will be put to the test once again as they face Eastern Florida State College in a three-game series. The first game of the series will be played on Thursday March 14th (away) at 3PM EST. They will finish the series here at the Santa Fe ballfield on Saturday March 16th.
