
Wiggs Wins 600th Career at Santa Fe
Johnny Wiggs wins his 600th at Santa Fe College and 800th of his career on the same day.

Santa Fe College and Head Coach, Johnny Wiggs, entered March 29th with 599 wins since 2007, the year Wiggs took over the program. Wiggs led the Saints to his 600th and 601st career victories at Seminole State College of Florida on March 29th.
Santa Fe has a strong history on the diamond, led and founded by Harry Tholen in 1982. Wiggs, the third baseball coach in program history, began his journey at Santa Fe in 2007. In his 18 years, Wiggs has led the Saints to nine conference championships (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021). The all-time winningest coach in program history led the Saints to two FCSAA/ NJCAA Region VIII State Tournament Championships (2009 and 2016). The Saints have made it to the JUCO World Series two times under Wiggs, including in 2009 when the Saints were the National Runner-Ups.
Since 2007, Wiggs has led Santa Fe to 17 straight 20-win seasons (excluding COVID season), including, 12 season with 30 or more wins. In 2016 and 2023 the Saints exceeded the 40-win mark.
Over the past 18 seasons, Wiggs has sent 177 players to a four-year institution. Wiggs has had two players sign free-agent deals after their time at Santa Fe and seven players have ended up drafted. The 2025 Major League Baseball season began with two former Santa Fe players, Brad Lord and Ryan Yarbrough. Both of them played under and were developed by Coach Wiggs.
Before Wiggs' time at Santa Fe, he won 199 games as the head coach at Polk State College. On the same day, Wiggs won his 600th at Santa Fe, he was able to win the 800th of his head coaching career.
Wiggs will be inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame at the JUCO World Series in May.
The Saints currently sit at 19-19 and 10-11 in Citrus Conference play. With four conference series left, the Saints sit on the bubble of the FCSAA State Tournament.
