The Saints were in the hole all day but continued to battle losing game one 8-11. The Saints scored the first run in the home half of the first to take a 1-0 lead. FSW took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Another run in the bottom of the second allowed the Saints to cut the lead to 3-2. FSW then scored two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-2. The Saints could battle back and score four in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. FSW broke the tie with a run in the next inning. Santa Fe took their second lead of the game with two in the sixth. The Bucs went on to score four in the seventh to take an 11-8 lead heading into the final half-inning.
At the plate the Saints had six guys drive in runs. Robert Nedry, Ryan Chase, and Erik Blair all had multi-hit performances. Blair went 3-5 scoring two runs and driving one run in. Trey Freeman was able to reach base three times going 1-2 with two walks and two RBI. Lucas Johns started the game going 1.1 innings allowing five hits and three runs (two earned runs). Macklin Miller 3.1 innings allowing three runs, walking six, and striking out five.
In game two the Saints fell behind big but battled back falling 11-9. FSW scored six runs in the first two innings to take a 6-0 lead. The Saints then scored three runs in the third and fourth innings. After five innings of play, FSW led 8-6. Both teams put crooked numbers up in the sixth with the Bucs scoring two and SF scoring three. FSW scored one in the seventh to take an 11-9 lead.
Nedry went 4-5 with one run scored and two RBI. Freeman drove in three, while Chase drove in two. Griffin Sorrow and Aiden Andreu both had two hits in the ball game. Matthew Pagan went 4.2 innings allowing eight runs (three earned runs). Pagan struck out four and walked two. Donovan Rabiei went the final 4.1 innings allowing three runs and striking out two.
The Saints are back in action on Tuesday at 3:00 PM versus St. Johns River State College in Gainesville.
