  • Title:
    Assistant Coach

Bio

Harry Tholen was the first head coach of the Santa Fe College Baseball team in 1981, and served as the head coach from 1982-1985 and 1989-2006. He compiled a 526-423 record in his 22 years as head coach. Even though Tholen retired as head coach in 2006, he quickly came back in 2009 as a volunteer coach when approached by current Coach Johnny Wiggs. Tholen said "I miss the game and I miss the kids and I said 'yeah I'll do it.'"

Tholen was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2011, as well as the Florida Community Colleges Activities Association Hall of Fame in 2004 and the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999.

Tholen, reflecting on a life spent educating young athletes, said, “The biggest thing for me is I was able to help players on and off the field. Junior college can be a place for a second chance. I want them to become the best people that they can become that do things the right way.”

Santa Fe College renamed the baseball field in Tholen's honor (Harry Tholen Field) on February 17th, 2024.
