Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints took to the road for their final game in 2015 on Wednesday evening in Tampa, coming up just short against a talented Hillsborough CC team, 75-67.
SF kept things close through the first 12 minutes of the game, playing even at 21-21 with the Hawks. Over the final eight minutes of the half, HCC outscored Santa Fe 18-10 to take a 39-31 lead into the break.
The Hawks built on that margin to start the second half, taking as much as a 17 point lead early in the second period. SF refused to quit and cut the lead down to three with under two minutes to go, but HCC made their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Both teams were very good from the charity stipe, with SF going 16-for-17, their best performance of the season, and the Hawks were 17-for-19.
Leo Edwards did his part for the Saints in the paint, scoring 18 points to lead the way. Ty Birts had 11, Jarred Anderson 10, and Alex Brown nine.
The Saints will take some time off for the holidays before returning January 4 at home against St. Petersburg College at 5:00 PM.
