Coleman Buzzer Beater Earns Saints 97-94 Win
Miles Coleman inbounded the ball with the length of the court to go and 6.5 seconds on the clock and ended up nailing a 3-pointer at the buzzer to propel the Saints to a 97-94 win over the College of Central Florida Wednesday night in Ocala.
"I'm really happy for our team," said SF head coach Chris Mowry." "We found a way to come out on top in a tough environment against a good CF team."
The Saints led most of the second half until the Patriots (18-12, 7-5 MFC) tied the game with less than a minute to play. The Saints would retake the lead only to see CF tie it at 94-94 on a pair of free throws with 6.5 seconds to go.
"We have let a few late leads slip away, so I am proud of everyone for continuing to compete when they made their run," said Mowry.
Ivan Smith led all scorers with 25 points, making 21 of 22 free throws, playing all 40 minutes. The Saints were 37 of 47 from the charity stripe as a team.
In all the Saints had six players score in double figures with Coleman, 18, Admir Besovic, 16, Brady Fernandes, 12, John Mason, 12 and Kimar Edwards, 11, joining Smith.
The Saints (15-14, 3-8 MFC) will host Eastern Florida State College on Saturday for a game scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. at the SF gym.
