Men's Basketball Wins Third Straight, Wire-to-Wire at FSCJ
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Men's Basketball led the whole way for the third consecutive game, jumping on Florida State College at Jacksonville early and holding on late to preserve a Central Conference victory, 74-69.
First Half – SF 42, FSCJ 31
The Saints produced the game's first 15 points and came out strong to the tune of establishing a 22-2 lead.
The Blue Wave didn't score for the first five minutes of play, and the Saints had contributions from a little bit of everyone early on the offensive end to go ahead big.
The FSCJ offense started to come alive a bit for the rest of the half, and cut the deficit to as low as eight points, 39-31, with a three-pointer nearing the one-minute mark of the half.
Bradley Douglas countered, however, with a triple off the dribble in the final seconds to give the Saints the 11-point lead.
Although SF wasn't shooting the ball all too particularly well, they had forced 10 FSCJ turnovers by half while committing just three of their own.
Second Half – SF 74, FSCJ 69
The lead reached 16, 57-41, when Douglas canned another trifecta nearing the 13-minute mark.
The Saints' largest advantage of the second half proved to be 17 points, 65-48, when Brandon Farmer connected on a three with 6:48 to play.
In the game's final minutes, SF was never really threatened, and kept FSCJ no closer than eight points until the Blue Wave sunk a half-court heave at the buzzer to get to within five.
