Tom Di Maria Signs Pro Contract in Belgium
Santa Fe Saint Di Maria is returning home to Belgium to play for Hubo Limburg United
Gainesville, FL
Tom Di Maria, originally from Brussels, Belgium, attended Santa Fe College for the past two years. Di Maria is set to head back to his home country, to compete on a 2-year deal professionally for Hubo Limburg United in TDM1 and BNXT.
In the 2022-2023 season, freshman point guard Di Maria played in 20 games, recording multiple double-digit scoring games, including a career high 12-point performance in a win against Fairmont Academy. In the 2023-2024 season, he used a medical redshirt.
Prior to his second year at Santa Fe, Di Maria competed in the FIBA European Championship for the U20 Belgium national team. With the help of Di Maria, the U20 Belgium Young Lions finished fourth in the tournament.
Di Maria is a player Hubo Limburg United thinks can play many minutes for them in TDM1, which is the second level of men's basketball in Belgium. The club believes he can then gradually make the transition to their team in the BNXT League, the first tier in both Dutch and Belgian professional basketball league systems.
