Gainesville, FL
First-year Santa Fe College Head Coach John Ritzdorf adds Daniel Waln to his coaching staff and retains Brandon Buckman from last year's staff. Waln joins the Saints after his second stint as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina University for Hall of Fame coach Cliff Ellis. He also had prior stops at Catawba College and Lees-McRae College, both Division II institutions. Waln stated, "I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work at Santa Fe College under John Ritzdorf. The chance to work for one of the best coaches in the game and the toughest league in the country is something I couldn't pass up. Coach Ritzdorf has won everywhere he has been and I look forward to helping him bring that same winning tradition to Santa Fe College."
Buckman spent last season as Chris Mowry's assistant before Mowry's retirement. Before Buckman's time at Santa Fe, he spent two seasons as a University of South Florida student manager. Buckman served as a student manager at the University of Illinois at Springfield for the 2017-2018 season. Buckman is excited to return to SF stating, "I'm very excited to return to Santa Fe and be a part of Coach Ritzdorf's staff. We have had many conversations throughout the summer and I'm a big believer in what we are building here in Gainesville."
Coach Ritdorf stated, "I am excited about this group of coaches and what they will bring to the table for each of our guys. This group has a wealth of knowledge for the game, and I look forward to working with them."
