Softball Drops Two at Tallahassee
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Saints Softball came up on the short end of the stick in two games at Tallahassee on Tuesday afternoon, as the Eagles came away with 5-3 and 11-1 victories.
GAME 1 - TALLAHASSEE 5, SF 3
All three of the Saints' runs came in the second inning, but the bats went dry the rest of the way and the Eagles took the opener.
With the bases loaded, Olivia Larkin had a sacrifice fly. In the next at-bat, Ayanna Woodard doubled to score Brooke Hackim and Riley Schnyder.
Darian Ingram started in the circle for the Saints and had things going through the first three innings, before the Eagles had two runs in the fourth went ahead with three runs in the fifth.
The Saints' best chance to get back into it came in the sixth, advancing runners to second and third base, but the Eagles ended the threat with a K.
Keeli Zingaro and Madison Dixon each had two hits, and doubles came from Dixon and Woodard.
Ingram threw five innings, allowing seven hits, five runs (four earned), and a walk while striking out a season-high ten batters. Kaylie Araujo tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
GAME 2 - TALLAHASSEE 11, SF 1 (5 INN.)
Once again, SF scored first. The Saints' lone run came in the top of the first inning on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch from Abrianna Hickox to score Larkin.
The Eagles took a 3-1 lead in the bottom half of the frame, however, then broke the game open by bringing across eight runs in the third.
SF had just three hits in the five-inning game, and Madison Dixon had a double.
Sophie Abrams took the loss from the circle, while Calen Hayes and Araujo also pitched.
