NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Santa Fe Softball was swept on the road at Pasco Hernando State College Tuesday. The Bobcats won the opener in eight innings, then took Game 2 of the doubleheader 9-1 in five innings.
GAME 1 - PHSC 7, SF 6 (8 INN.)
The Saints jumped in front by putting up a five-spot in their first at-bats, batting around the order,
SF extended the advantage to 6-0 with a single run in the fourth, but the lead would not hold, however, The Bobcats plated a single run in the fourth, three in the fifth, and the game tying run in the sixth to force extras.
After the Saints went scoreless in the top of the eighth, the Bobcats walked the game off with a leadoff single to score the runner from second base.
Key Statistics
The loss from the circle went to Sophie Abrams.
Jayelyn Carter, Abrianna Hickox, and Ayanna Woodard had two hits apiece, with Carter smacking a triple. Keeli Zingaro had two RBI.
GAME 2 - PHSC 9, SF 1 (5 INN.)
The second game was dictated by the Bobcats, who brought across four runs in each of the first and third innings before scoring the final run in the fourth to put the run-rule in effect.
Key Statistics
The SF run came on a home run from Story Giebeig, her team-leading seventh of the season.
Kaylie Araujo was charged with the loss from the circle.
