A GAME-CHANGING PLAY
There were several in this one-sided affair. It began with a first-inning grand slam for Story Giebeig (below).
Kensley Durrance and Sophie Abrams combined for the one-hit shutout from the circle.
Ariana Wright, appearing in her first doubleheader as a Saint, helped invoke the run-rule with a two-out triple to deep right field in the fourth inning, plating three.
TEAM COMPARISON
The SJR defense had three more errors in this one, while SF played mistake-free.
The Saints racked up seven more hits in the shortened game, four of which went for extra-bases.
SF BATTING LEADERS
Seven different Saints had hits in this one, in what was a balanced lineup.
Fowler had a double, Giebeig drove in four with her grand slam, while Lily Garnett-Brown and Wright each had triples. Wrights' three-bagger gave the Virginia Tech transfer her first hit as a Saint and three runs batted in.
