Santa Fe Loses Against Gulf Coast State
Sanford, FL- The Santa Fe softball team traveled to Sanford to play in the Courtney Miller Invitational. In the first game, they faced Gulf Coast State College Commodores. The Saints were down 5-0 until their bats came alive starting in the 3rd inning. They scored in each of the following innings, but still fell short. The final score of this contest was 5-7 (Gulf Coast State). The Saints drop to 8-5.
How It Happened
Gulf Coast State jumped out in front of the Saints by scoring the first five runs. Makayla Peters scored first on a passed ball in the 1st inning. Barrett Lawrence scored off a single by Fallyn Jordan (0-2). They would go on to score three more runs before the Saints would get up on the board.
The Saints started out struggling at the plate. They went three up and three out for the first three innings. Kamaya Cohen hit a triple to stoke the Saints offense. Arianna Wright singled on a hard ground ball to center field scoring Kamaya Cohen.
Alexis Daphney homered in the top of the 6th inning to put the score at 4-7 (Commodores). Madi Conway scored on a successful steal attempt at home plate putting the score at 5-7 in the top of the 7th inning with two outs. 5-7 (Commodores) would be the final score as the Commodores were able to get the final out.
