Saints Dominate Raiders
Gainesville, FL- On Tuesday Santa Fe traveled to Seminole State for a NJCAA ranked double header conference matchup. The Raiders are nationally ranked at #16 and the Saints are nationally ranked at #20. The Saints dominated the Raiders with a first game shutout (13-0). In game two the Saints continued their stellar play and won the matchup 11-3.
How It Happened
Game One
Mallory Forrester started out in the circle for the Saints. She pitched a no hitter allowing only one walk and finished with six strikeouts.
Kamaya Cohen was the leading batter for the Saints going three for four at the plate with a stolen base. Sydney Fowler and Madi Conway also had a great day at the plate both going two for four with three RBI's.
The Saints started out strong scoring two runs in the 1st inning. Madi Conway hit a two RBI double scoring Juliann Smith and Kamaya Cohen (2-0). They would go on to score one run in the 3rd inning and one in the 4th inning. In the 5th inning the Saints offense explodes as they put nine runs on the board. This led to a run rule ending the game with a score of 13-0.
Game Two
Ryleigh Bauer started out in the circle for the Saints. She was very strong on the mound finishing with six innings pitched, five hits allowed, and 3 strikeouts. Peyton Bauer also saw time in the circle for the Saints.
The Saints had thirteen hits in the game compared to the Raiders seven hits. Karris Rhine led the way for the Saints going two for four at the plate with a home run. Cloey O'Doniel also contributed hitting a three RBI home run.
Avery Brewer led the way for the Raiders at the plate hitting a three RBI home run. Kiara Beltre also had a good day at the plate for the Raiders recording two hits.
The Saints struck first by scoring two runs in the 1st inning (2-0). The Saints kept their offense rolling by scoring four runs in the 3rd inning. Madi Conway recorded an RBI double to jumpstart the Saints in the inning. This led to a Cloey O'Doniel three RBI home run (6-0). In the 5th inning, the Raiders responded by scoring three runs via a Avery Brewer three RBI home run (9-3). In the 7th inning, Karris Rhine hit a solo home run putting the Saints up 10-3. The Saints finished the scoring out when Kamaya Cohen hit a sack fly to left field scoring Jayla Clark (11-3).
The Saints completed the series sweep by game two with a score of 11-3. Their record improves to 21-10.
