In game one of the doubleheader, neither team could get their offenses going as Seminole State College took the 1-0 win over SF. The Saint's offensive struggles carried over from the series at Miami Dade this past weekend as Santa Fe had just two hits in the game. Seminole State walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh with a run on a base hit through the left side.
The Saints started Ryleigh Bauer in the circle as she went 6.2 innings allowing three hits and one run. Bauer struck out four and walked four in her appearance. Camryn VanGalder and Brook Markiewictz were the only Saints with a base hit in the game.
In game two, the Saints offense continued to struggle, but in a different way as Seminole State won 6-1. The Saints were able to find base hits in game two but struggled to get runners home. The Saints jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a Madison Conway solo homerun. After that, the scoring stopped for Santa Fe. Seminole State scored one in the bottom of the first, four in the bottom of the second, and added insurance in the fifth inning.
Belle Mancillas received the start in game two. Mancillas did not have her best stuff, going just 1.0 innings allowing three hits and five runs (four earned runs). Mancillas walked three, striking out one on the day. Alexis Daphney took over in the middle of the second inning and went 5.0 innings. Daphney allowed three hits and one unearned run. Conway was the bright spot offensively on the day with her solo homerun and the only RBI on the afternoon. Karris Rhine was the only Saint to have a multi-hit game going 2-4 in the second game.
The Saints are back in action on Thursday when Eastern Florida State College travels to Gainesville for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM.
