In game one of a two-game slate, Flordia SouthWestern shut out Santa Fe 5-0. FSW scored in four different innings including the first, third, fifth, and seventh. Kelsey Harper was Santa Fe's only baserunner of the game with a base hit. Ryleigh Bauer got the start going 2.1 innings allowing four hits and three runs. Belle Mancillas finished the game allowing two runs (one earned run) in 4.2 innings. Both struck out three in their time in the circle.
In game two of the afternoon, the Saints were able to squeeze past the top-ranked Bucs with a 5-4 win. Florida SouthWestern scored four runs in the third inning to jump out to the first lead of the game. The Saints then matched the Bucs with a four-run fifth inning to tie the game. Santa Fe College walked it off in the seventh with a single from Brooke Markiewicz. Karris Rhine hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to give Santa Fe life in game two. Rhine was the only Saint with multi-hits in the game. McKenzie Jewell went 1-2 with two walks. Ryleigh Bennett started and went 4.0 innings allowing four hits and four runs. Bennett walked three. Alexi Daphney was credited with the win for SF going 3.0 innings scoreless. Daphney struck out two and walked three on the afternoon.
The Saints are back in action on Tuesday versus St. Petersburg in Gainesville. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
