Saints WIN
Santa Fe Earned Win to Stay Alive in the FCSAA Division I Softball Championships
Clearwater, Florida
In the fifth match up of the year, the Saints beat Eastern Florida when it mattered most! Both teams battled defensively for the first two and half innings with neither team getting to second base. In the bottom of the third, it looked much the same through two outs, but the Saints put one on the board by a booming Madison Conway homerun. The bottom of the fourth was more of the same, as the Saints put up five runs. Olivia LaMeau was hit by a pitch and Brooke Markiewicz almost beat out a bunt to move her to second. Camryn VanGalder singled to put LaMeau at third. Tegan Grizzard who has had stellar defense all tournament came to bat and hit a homer over the left field fence scoring Lameau and VanGalder. Rylie Blankenship singled to left field and Karris Rhine homered to left field. Belle Mancillas earned the win for the Saints allowing only three hits and two runs in four plus innings. Ryleigh Bauer came in and finished the Titans off allowing only one hit and no runs.
The Saints have a quick turn around as they will now play Northwest Florida at 7:00 PM. If the Saints win in the night cap, they will play in the FCSAA Division I Softball Championships District B final. Florida Southwestern (#1 NJCAA) won the FCSAA Division I Softball Championship District A Championship and earned the automatic bid to the national tournament.
