Women’s Basketball Downed by Gulf Coast in JUCO Shootout
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Santa Fe Women's Basketball wrapped up play in the Florida JUCO Shootout on Saturday afternoon, and fell to Gulf Coast State College by a final score of 78-57.
First Quarter – GC 17, SF 8
The Saints got off to a slow start offensively and fell into a nine-point deficit after the opening ten minutes of play with the Commodores.
Second Quarter – GC 48, SF 23
Although SF started to find some offensive success in the second quarter, Gulf Coast broke the game open and outscored the Saints 31-15 in the frame.
Selah Reddick and Aleisha Curry each had four points in the quarter.
Third Quarter – GC 61, SF 43
The Saints trimmed the deficit to 18 points, highlighted by seven points from Isabella Reynolds and six points from Olivia Smith.
Fourth Quarter – GC 78, SF 57
SF wasn't able to conjure up a big run in the final quarter, however, and fell for the second time this season.
Key Scoring Statistics
Taniah Bowers led SF with 11 points from the backcourt. Curry finished the game with ten points, while Reynolds, Reddick, and O. Smith had eight apiece.
