Brown's Offensive Display Garners FCSAA Weekly Recognition
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Guard Malea Brown of Santa Fe College Women's Basketball has been selected as the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. The FCSAA release is included below.
This past week, Brown, a freshman from Putnam Hall, Fla., was unstoppable on the offensive end for the Saints. She averaged 28.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two games.
In a road defeat to No. 16 Eastern Florida, Brown led the Saints with 20 points. Box Score
She then used her quick first step and shooting stroke to explode for 25 first half points against St. Petersburg in the home finale, an 85-77 overtime win. The 25 points tied her previous career-high mark.
She wasn't done, however. Brown finished with a dazzling 36 points on 14-of-24 from the field, 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.
