TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Freshman defensive specialist Cydnee Eubanks of Santa Fe College Volleyball has been selected as the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. 

On the week, Eubanks, a native of Blountstown, Fla., tallied a total of 56 digs in seven sets played to average eight digs/set to set herself above the other candidates for the weekly honor. 

On Oct. 19 in a loss to Eastern Florida, Eubanks provided a match-high 17 digs. 

On NJCAA Day and Sophomore Night in the season finale on Oct. 21, the Saints snapped a 13-game losing streak by outperforming the Polk State College Eagles in the final three sets in a 3-1 victory. Eubanks was a huge part of the win, and was simply amazing in the libero position for the Saints on her way to tallying a season-high 39 digs.

Although SF finished the season 4-16 overall and 3-13 during their first season in the Suncoast Conference, the performance in the season's final match displayed potential for seasons to come with young players like Eubanks, the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 18.
