Set 1: Volleyball Announces First Set of 2023 Newcomers
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Head Coach Bailey Coleman and Santa Fe College Volleyball are excited to announce 12 new Saints set to contribute in the upcoming 2023 season.
The 12 signings will be announced in groups of four, beginning today with Kierston Giesey, Soraya Nacero, Aliyah Nields, and Zimora Owens.
Kierston Giesey
- Position: Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter
- Height: 6-2
- Hometown: Cocoa, Fla.
- High School: Space Coast
- Notables: 4-Year letter-winner, Team MVP, Exceeded 200 kills in a season, 3-year Treasurer with National Honor Society (NHS)
Soraya Nacero
- Position: Outside Hitter/Libero
- Height: 5-9
- Hometown/Country: Venezuela
- High School/Previous School: Colegio San Agustin-El Paraiso
- Notables: Helped her prep team to a state championship, trained with the Venezuelan national team.
Aliyah Nields
- Position: Outside Hitter/Opposite Hitter
- Height: 6-0
- Hometown: Jacksonville, Fla.
- High School: Episcopal School of Jacksonville
- Club: Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association (JJVA)
- Notables: A transfer from East Stroudsburg University, where she played in 16 matches in 2022 and finished with 34 kills, 25 digs, six blocks and three aces in 33 sets played.
Zimora Owens
- Position: Middle Blocker/Opposite Hitter
- Height: 6-1
- Hometown: Lake City, Fla.
- High School: Suwannee
- Club: Stealth Volleyball, PSVA Tri County
- Notables: 2022 All-Area 2nd Team Big School, Suwannee River Classic MVP, Columbia High School Volleyball Offensive Player of the Year (2019-2020)
