Santa Fe setter Maria Contreras Ayala was selected to participate for the U21 Mexican National Team. The team competes in the Women's NORCECA Continental Championship in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Contreras Ayala, a native of Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, attended Prepatoria Del Valle.

"I am super proud of Maria's accomplishment. She is one of our most hard working players and absolutely deserves this opportunity. We are looking forward to the Fall 2024 season with her experience leading us on the court" said Head Coach Bailey Coleman.

Contreras Ayala previously competed with the Mexican National Team in the 2021 FIVB U18 World Championship and the 2022 U19 Pan American Cup.

As a freshman, Contreras Ayala averaged 2.53 assists per set and had a total of 39 digs, 34 blocks, and 22 kills.
