
Saints fall to HCC in Three
Santa Fe falls in three to HCC 25-21, 25-21, 25-23. Saints fall to 6-4 (0-1).

Santa Fe came into their first conference match following a five-set win at Pasco-Hernando State College. Hillsborough came in after a three-set loss to Florida Southwestern State College. The Lady Hawks took the match in straight sets 25-21, 25-21, 25-23.
In the first couple sets the story was the same, the Lady Hawks found themselves up early, but the Saints continuously battled back into each set, before the Lady Hawks would run away with it late.
In set three Hillsborough found themselves ahead 9-1. A Bailey Coleman timeout helped Santa Fe find momentum taking a18-15 lead late into the set. However, HCC went on a 4-0 run to take a 19-18 lead. From there the two teams battled back and forth until it was the Hawks taking the set 25-23.
Riley Solomon led the way for Santa Fe with 9 kills, while Linnea Preston totaled four block assists. Maria Contreras added one solo block and one assisted block.
Coach Bailey Coleman stated, "We didn't give up. The effort wasn't where we wanted it. Conference has started and we didn't step upto the competition. We have to play better."
The Saints are back in action Monday, September 16th against Lake-Sumpter State College in Gainesville at 6:00 PM. Santa Fe will continue conference play at home on Wednesday when Miami Dade College come to town at 6:00 PM.
