Eyster Goes 4-for-5, Saints Defeat HCC 13-0
Tampa, FL – The Santa Fe Saints were firing on all cylinders Friday afternoon in Tampa, putting up a season high 13 runs in a shutout victory over the Hillsborough CC Hawks. The win keeps FCSAA #5/Baseball America #14 SF undefeated at 6-0. Saints freshman Andrew Eyster was 4-for-5 with a double, his second homerun of the season, and four RBI.

Tampa, FL – The Santa Fe Saints were firing on all cylinders Friday afternoon in Tampa, putting up a season high 13 runs in a shutout victory over the Hillsborough CC Hawks. The win keeps FCSAA #5/Baseball America #14 SF undefeated at 6-0. Saints freshman Andrew Eyster was 4-for-5 with a double, his second homerun of the season, and four RBI.
Michael Paul (2-0) was dominant on the mound, tossing six shutout innings, striking out three, allowing two hits and walking just one.
The game was scoreless through the first four innings, but in the fifth Santa Fe finally broke through. Kyler Marquis started the frame with a single, Eyster followed with a double, and Garrett Mathes singled to break the scoreless tie. Haydn Cano put two more on the board with a triple and Bo Seccombe hit a two out single to make it 4-0.
Eyster singled home a run in the fifth and in the sixth the flood gates opened. Santa Fe plated six runs on four hits and four walks to grab the 11-0 lead.
SF added two insurance runs in the ninth on a homerun by Eyster (2).
Brock Edge, Austin Bass, and Chris Budden pitched a scoreless inning each to finish off the victory. The win is the second this season for SF over HCC.
Garrett Mathes, Haydn Cano, and Bo Seccombe had two hits each.
The Saints will be back at home tomorrow, February 3 at 12 noon in double header action against South Florida State College.
