Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saint held Broward to their lowest point output of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Seahawks held on down the stretch for a 74-68 victory.
The Saints (9-6) led by as many as 12 in the first half, but a late rally and 20-6 run by the Seahawks gave them a two points lead at the halftime break.
FCSAA #6 Broward (11-3) came out of the locker room and nailed a three pointer to make it a five point game, but a 10-2 run by the Saints would give them back the lead 47-44. The Seahawks again answered and jumped back out in front before a Brandon Williams layup a few minutes later gave SF the 62-61 lead with under eight minutes to play.
Just moments later Broward answered and eventually made it a four point game. Points were at a premium down the stretch, and the Saints had numerous opportunities to tie or take the lead, but couldn't come through, falling by six to the Seahawks.
The win was the second this season by Broward over Santa Fe. The first came in Winter Haven on January 8, 82-79.
Jayvian Delacruz proved to be a tough matchup for the Saints, as the Broward wing scored 23 points, and pulled down 10 boards.
Morris Marshall finished with a double double, scoring 13 points to go with 10 boards. Andre Horne and Michael Sanchez each had 13 points, and Jaquel Taft scored 11.
The Saints will host Hillsborough CC on December 17 at 4:00 PM in their final game of 2014.
