St. Petersburg Rallies Past Saints, 77-75
Clearwater, FL – The Santa Fe Saints led by 10 with just under three minutes to play on Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, but a 16-4 run to close the game by St. Petersburg College brought the Titans back for the two point victory. SF had just seven healthy players for the third game in a row, and until the very end, appeared as though they were going to win their third in a row shorthanded.

Clearwater, FL – The Santa Fe Saints led by 10 with just under three minutes to play on Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, but a 16-4 run to close the game by St. Petersburg College brought the Titans back for the two point victory. SF had just seven healthy players for the third game in a row, and until the very end, appeared as though they were going to win their third in a row shorthanded.
The Saints led at halftime 38-34 after holding the Titans to just 27% shooting over the first 20 minutes. SPC upped their production in the second half, hitting 44% of their shot attempts.
FCSAA ranked #3 St. Pete was much more aggressive on the offensive end, attempting 16 more shots. SF was the more efficient team, nailing 44% of their shots for the game, compared to 37% for the Titans.
Michael Sanchez scored 22 to lead Santa Fe (12-7), including seven three pointers. Allen Baez finished with 13 points, and Jaquel Taft had 10. Reserves Conor Westall and Jordan Benjamin were again extremely productive, combining for 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
The Saints will take a week off before traveling to the College of Central Florida for their Mid-Florida Conference opener against the Patriots on Saturday, January 17 at 7:30 PM.
