Ocala, FL – Allen Baez had a career game for Santa Fe on Saturday evening in Ocala, scoring 36 points against the College of Central Florida, but it wasn't enough to lead SF to a victory over the Patriots.
The Saints (15-12, 2-5 MFC) led 52-49 after a high scoring first half, but the CF defense came to play over the final 20 minutes and held SF to 35 second half points. The Patriots (21-7, 6-1 MFC) stayed consistent offensively and scored 48 in the second period to secure the 10 point win.
Baez led all scorers with his 36, which included 17-of-19 from the free throw line. Morris Marshall finished with 16 for SF, and Jaquel Taft had 14
"I thought our guys fought hard, but we have to do a few more things right if we want to beat a team like Central Florida," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "We got beat on the offensive glass too often, turned it over too much, and didn't defend like we needed to. On the other side of it I'm proud of how hard our guys played out there tonight."
