Gainesville, FL – After a first half in which the Santa Fe Saints led by just two points at the break, they stepped up their defensive pressure in the second and cruised past Victory Rock Academy by 25 points in their final tune-up before resuming Mid-Florida Conference play on Wednesday.
The Saints (11-11, 2-1 MFC) had no trouble on offense during the first 20 minutes, but couldn't find an answer for Victory Rock, taking a 43-41 lead into the locker room.
The second half was a different story as SF stepped up their defense and held VR to just 22 points, while the Saints offense provided 45 to pull away for the 88-63 win.
Alex Brown continued his hot shooting, finishing with 24 points, including seven three pointers to lead all scorers. Benjy Dumornay had 15 points and seven rebounds, LaBrian Shiflet scored 11 points, and Josh Hawkins had 11.
The Saints will take a few days off before returning to MFC action on Wednesday, January 27 in Gainesville against Florida State College-Jacksonville at 8:00 PM. Fans can watch live at www.santafesaints.com/saintssportsnetwork
