Winter Haven, FL – The Santa Fe Saints came within a hair of a road win on Tuesday evening in Winter Haven, but came up just short against Polk State College, falling 60-56.
The Eagles narrowly outscored SF in the first half with both teams finishing with less than 30 points, thanks to solid defense at both ends. They took a 29-27 lead into the halftime break.
The second half played out similarly to the first. Polk State outscored the Saints by two, 31-29 and finished off the four point victory.
The loss drops Santa Fe to just 6-2 on the year.
D-Juan Taylor-Hodge finished with a team high 14 points, Sean Flood had 10, including a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line, and Darrell Jones scored 10.
SF will continue on the road on Monday, November 27 when they travel to Indian River State College for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
