Saints Come Up Short Against EFS
The Saints Fe Saints fought their way back in the closing minute, cutting a seven-point deficit to one, but couldn't finish the job in a 57-56 loss to Eastern Florida State Wednesday night.
"Our guys were super in the last two minutes," said SF head coach Chris Mowry. "We fought back to have a chance to take the lead with 15 seconds to go."
The Saints led the defensive battle by a point at halftime, (26-25) but the Titans seemed to have an answer for every offensive run the Saints put together.
"EF is a very talented team, and they really defended well," said Mowry. "They hit a couple critical 3-pointers that gave them a boost down the stretch."
Ryan Leonard led the Saints in scoring with 14 points while Josiah Tynes and Noah Thorp put in 12 apiece.
"This is a very tough loss tonight for our team, but I'm really proud of our effort," said Mowry. "We did a great job defensively and on the boards. We will continue to work hard and keep believing in ourselves. Saturday will be another tough game at FSCJ."
SF (8-11, 1-2 MFC) will travel to Jacksonville on Saturday for another Mid-Florida Conference matchup scheduled to tip off at 4 pm, following the women's game scheduled to start at 2.
