Men's Basketball Victorious at FSCJ, 80-64
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second time this season, Santa Fe men's basketball came out on top at Florida State College at Jacksonville, picking up their third conference win of the season with a 80-64 result over the Blue Wave.
The win snapped a seven-game skid for the Saints, with two more home games and two more away games remaining on the regular season slate.
First Half – SF 39, FSCJ 32
The Saints established some separation from the hosts about midway through the half. Trailing 18-20, Santa Fe went on an 11-3 spurt to grab a 29-23 edge.
After an FSCJ basket, Jovan Jovanovic scored on consecutive possessions with four points in the paint, including a nifty reverse layup after an up-fake.
The eight-point lead was Santa Fe's largest of the half, and with a faceup jumper from Yaw Obeng-Mensah, SF held the seven-point advantage at the halftime whistle, 39-32.
Second Half – SF 80, FSCJ 64
The lead reached double-digits early in the second half, and Santa Fe continued to dictate play while keeping the Blue Wave from getting back into it.
SF led 57-49 with about ten minutes to play, but put the game away with a 15-5 run to go ahead 72-54. The 18-point lead was the largest of the game for SF, and the run was fueled by ten points from Obeng-Mensah.
The Blue Wave were able to score the next seven points to get back to within 11 points, 72-61, with about four and a half minutes remaining. Santa Fe finished strongly though in the final minutes, and cruised to the 80-64 win.

A Moment with Mowry
"I'm really happy for our players!" said Head Coach Chris Mowry. "We've been so close in several games and couldn't get over the hump. Defensively, we were pretty good in each half. We did a good job pushing the ball on misses, and were able to get some buckets that way. We did a nice job attacking the basket in the halfcourt also, and got several kick-out threes. We had great contributions from Aleksa Medic, Dominic Pugh, Hasan Abdul-Hakim, and Jovanovic off the bench!"
