GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Santa Fe College men's basketball got the 2022-2023 season started with a 117-66 performance over visiting PHS Academy on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Santa Fe established a 62-25 lead at the halftime whistle with efficient shooting and an uptempo attack. A 15-0 run helped widen the gap.
The outcome was never in doubt the rest of the way, as the Saints were able to play a variety of different rotations and cruise to the lopsided win in the season opener, leading by as many as 55 points down the stretch.
STATISTICS
Twelve different players scored, and the Saints were led by 16 points from Nasir Mann. Kordell Brown and Nikolaos Noumeros added 15, Jalen Speer had an efficient 14, and Nigel Martin added ten off the bench.
The rebounding margin was an astounding +33 for the hosts.
Speer had game-highs in assists (9) and rebounds (7) for a well-rounded debut with the Saints.
Santa Fe shot 60 percent from their home floor and could not be slowed by PHS, The Saints connected on 11 attempts from beyond the three-point arc, three of which came from Mann.

The Saints head to the State College of Florida to play ASA College (Miami) on the neutral court this Friday. Tipoff time is 5:00 p.m. in Bradenton.
