Gainesville, FL – A strong all around night for freshman Janasia Law and a stellar second half for the Santa Fe offense, paced the Saints past a scrappy Hillsborough Hawks team on Monday night in Gainesville, 78-60. With the win, SF is now 7-6 and HCC drops to 10-7.
Law had the most complete game of her young collegiate career, dropping 29 points on 8-for-11 shooting and 11-for-12 from the free throw line, and also contributed seven assists and seven rebounds. Seventeen of those points came in a 56 point second half for Santa Fe.
The first half was forgettable for both teams, but the Saints came out of the locker room on a mission for the final two quarters, stretching the lead to 11 at the end of the third quarter on the strength of Brianna Richardson's three point shooting. In the fourth they kept the pressure on and pulled away for the 18 point victory.
Richardson finished the game with 19 points, including 17 in the second half, and seven rebounds. Stephanie Jackson had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Destiny Williams scored eight points, blocked four shots, and had two steals.
The Saints will be on the road on Saturday, December 16 to battle South Georgia Tech at 2:00 p.m. in Macon, GA.
