Broward Rallies Past Saints in Overtime, 91-89
Gainesville, FL – Turnovers hurt the Saints down the stretch in their loss to Broward College on Saturday, a team they led by 19 at one point in the second half of their Florida Colleges Shootout game, and by 16 with six minutes to play. The Seahawks never gave up, and forced 22 turnovers in the second half and overtime to upset the Saints in Gainesville, 91-89.

Gainesville, FL – Turnovers hurt the Saints down the stretch in their loss to Broward College on Saturday, a team they led by 19 at one point in the second half of their Florida Colleges Shootout game, and by 16 with six minutes to play. The Seahawks never gave up, and forced 22 turnovers in the second half and overtime to upset the Saints in Gainesville, 91-89.
Santa Fe trailed only once in regulation, falling behind 2-0 in the opening minutes before building a 15 point halftime lead, holding the high scoring Seahawks to just 26 points in the first 20 minutes. Broward came into the game averaging 91 points per contest.
In the second half SF expanded their lead even further, going ahead 58-39 on a jumper by Josh Hawkins at the 12:44 mark, their second 19 point lead. They maintained a double digit lead until a three pointer by Deandre turner cut it to 77-68 with 2:30 left. Turner finished the comeback by making a layup with 12 seconds left to tie the game at 81-81, sending the game to overtime.
In the 5:00 overtime period Broward took a four point lead, but the Saints rallied, tying the score on a jumper by Devin Pryor, and layup by Ty Birts. With :09 seconds left, Jaquon McKennon drove all the way to the hoop to give Broward a 91-89 lead and The Saints failed to convert on a three pointer at the buzzer.
Leo Edwards led SF with 24 points and eight rebounds, but was one of three Saints starters to foul out in regulation, depleting the front court for the final minutes of the game. Benjy Dumornay and Elijah Gore also fouled out. Alex Brown finished with 15 points, and Gore had 10.
