Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe led by as many as 12 in the first half against Florida State College-Jacksonville, but a late first half rally, followed by hot shooting from the Blue Wave led to a 76-71 FSC-J victory.
The Saints (13-14, 3-4 MFC) got off to a good start in the first half, making a strong effort to take the ball to the hoop against the undersized FSC-J front court. They led by 12 points with five minutes to go, but foul trouble to the Saints forwards hurt them down the stretch as they saw the lead evaporate to 35-33 at halftime.
Malik Abraham was the difference in the second half for the Blue Wave as he nailed five three pointers, and finished with 19 points over the final 20 minutes to seal the victory.
Leo Edwards led SF with 17 points, LaBrian Shiflet had 15, and Benjy Dumornay and Nick Rosa had 10 each.
The Saints will return home on Wednesday, February 17 to host Daytona State College at 8:00 PM in their final home game of the season. The athletics department will honor 2016 retiring faculty and staff at halftime of the women's game. Fans can watch the game online at www.santafesaints.com/saintssportsnetwork
