Saints Fall to CF 88-81 Despite 35 from Shiflet
Gainesville, FL – LaBrian Shiftlet did everything he could to will the Santa Fe Saints to a victory on Saturday evening in Ocala against the College of Central Florida, but in the end the Patriots were able to hold on at home in overtime for the 88-81 victory. The win clinches CF at least a share of the Mid-Florida Conference title.

Gainesville, FL – LaBrian Shiftlet did everything he could to will the Santa Fe Saints to a victory on Saturday evening in Ocala against the College of Central Florida, but in the end the Patriots were able to hold on at home in overtime for the 88-81 victory. The win clinches CF at least a share of the Mid-Florida Conference title.
Shiflet finished with 35 points and nine made three pointers, six of them coming in a row in the second half as time was winding down.
SF overcame a double digit halftime deficit and tied the game late in regulation on a three by Shiflet with 0.4 seconds remaining.
In overtime the Saints started off with a three pointer, but struggled from the free throw line, going 0-for-5 to put them in a hole late. Central Florida hit their free throws in the closing seconds, and held on for the hard fought seven point win.
Shiflet finished with 35 points on 10-for-17 shooting, and 9-for-13 from the three point line. He also had eight rebounds and a steal in just over 34 minutes. Leo Edwards was a force in the middle, scoring 17 points to go with 10 rebounds.
Santa Fe finishes their season with a 13-16 overall mark and a 3-6 record in the MFC.
