Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe guard Ivan Smith had a rare perfect scoring night on Tuesday against Victory Rock Prep, scoring 20 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field and 8-for-8 from the free throw line to lead the Saints past VRP 81-60. He was 2-for-2 from behind the three point arc.
Santa Fe (5-1) led by just one point after what Coach Chris Mowry called a "sloppy" first half, but turned it on in the second to pull away for the win.
"We struggled in the first half against their full court press, turned it over too much, and settled for too many contested three pointers," said Mowry. "We were better in the second, started driving the ball to the basket and took care of the basketball."
Santa Fe shot 56% from the field in the second half, outscoring Victory Rock 46-26 in the process.
Alsean Evans was effective at both ends of the floor, scoring 14 points to go with nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals with no turnovers.
The Saints will be back in action against Clearwater Academy International on Friday in the SF Gym at 6:00 p.m.
