Gainesville, FL – College of Central Florida sophomore forward Carlos Dotson had the best all-around game of his career on Wednesday afternoon against the Santa Fe Saints, pouring in 33 points to go with 18 rebounds in the FCSAA #3/NJCAA #16 Patriots 88-75 win over SF. The loss is the first at home this season for the Saints who are now 11-1 in the SF Gym.
"We didn't have an answer for Dotson all game long," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "They beat us in the paint, out hustled us, and just played better."
Santa Fe led 6-0 out of the gates, but a 13-0 run by CF gave them an advantage they would hold onto for the rest of the game.
The FCSAA #7 Saints fought back over the final 4 minutes of the first half to turn a double digit deficit into just a five point disadvantage at the break, 37-32.
In the second half the Saints (14-6, 2-1 MFC) got it as close as four points, but CF turned it on and stretched the margin to 19, putting the game out of reach late in the second half.
Malik Morrow led Santa Fe scorers with 24 points, Ivan Smith had 14, D-Juan Taylor-Hodge 11, and Alsean Evans had 10.
The Saints will hit the road on Saturday, January 20 when they take on their second nationally ranked team in as many games, Eastern Florida State College at 4:00 p.m. in Melbourne. The Titans are currently ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA poll.
