Gainesville, FL – It was a whirlwind seven days for the Santa Fe Saints in Lakeland, FL last week, seeing them win their third FCSAA Championship, clinching a spot in the NJCAA JUCO World Series. It took two wins over national powerhouse Chipola, including a walk off win, and a come from behind win in the title game, but the Saints came out victorious for the first time since 2009.
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (42-8) showed their resiliency today in Lakeland, fighting back from an early 4-0 hole to defeat Chipola College 6-4, winning the schools third FCSAA Championship (2009, 1985). Trent Johnson was masterful on the mound, retiring the last 14 batters he faced. Troy Bacon retired three straight in the ninth for his 15th save. The meeting was the third between the two teams at the tournament.
Lakeland, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (41-8) ran into a three homerun game from Chipola shortstop Jose Caballero on Thursday evening, falling to the Indians 6-2 at the FCSAA Tournament. The game was not a must win for SF and they will move on to the championship game on Saturday at 10:00 AM against either Chipola or Gulf Coast by virtue of being in the winner’s bracket the longest.

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore pitcher Trent Johnson (2-1) tossed seven shutout innings on Wednesday afternoon in Tifton, GA against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, striking out 11 to pick up his second win of the year in a 4-1 SF victory.
